Explore the intersting area around one of the largest underground airbases in Europe - Željava. Take a walking or a biking tour with locals who will help you discover many interesting things in the vicinity of the base.

At this moment the base is closed to the public, but with a little help from local guides you will discover a number of very interesting spots and activities in the vicinity of the base and the border area. Find more interesting info about the Base and our plans under Explore Local.

Mrs. Sonja Leka is a licensed guide and will gladly provide you with an interesting costumed walking tour of the area around the Zeljava Military Air Base enriched with the history, legends and old traditions of the area. Mrs. Leka can also be an excellent connection to all the other guides, especially on the Croatian side of the border.

Mr. Slavko Crnković, Željava, Republic of Croatia
Lives literally right next to the airport in the village Zeljava, Mr. Slavko is an experienced member of the local hunting club and a "connoisseur" of the area on the Croatian side of the border. Mr. Crnković is also an excellent connection to all the guides on the Bosnian side of the border.

Mr. Osman Sulić, Izačić, Bosnia i Herzegovina
Former military airport employee, Mr. Sulić will be a great guide for this area on the Bosnian side. He is also the owner of the Memorial Room in the Izačić Village and a beautiful miniature traditional house. You can arrange a hiking or a biking adventure in advance on these contacts:

G. Samir Aličić, Izačić, Bosnia i Herzegovina
The owner of the Sports center Karaula and the organizer of the famous event "Štraparijada", a regional working horse competition.
