The Municipality of Rakovica is known cheese-producing municipality in the Plitvice Lakes area, and their farmers work hard to be sustained and not get caught up in cheap pricing and low quality products.

Freshness is not the only reason we support locally produced foods:

- are made in small batches, meaning less or no preservatives and agrochemicals;
- increase food safety - it is wiser, smarter and healthier to have and support many small scale food manufacturers than a few larger retailers or wholesalers.

A series of extreme weather events make food security increasingly vulnerable.Therefore every single brave initiative of a locally based small food manufacturer is worthy of recognition and support!

Mona is a family-owned farming and dairy company run by the Turkalj family for more than 15 years, and is one of the few in the region that has successfully addressed numerous challenges faced by smallholder farmers. They own their own large dairy herd and some sheep that are allowed to run free and graze clean pastures, pick and choose the plants they need for optimum health.
Mona offers a range of high-quality dairy products that are very worth buying!
