Pljesevica Mountain Home
NOTICE: If you are lucky and live in a country that is slowly coming out of quarantine recover your strength in the arms of Nature; power up your immunity with outdoor recreation and healthy domestic, locally grown foods. Let's help preserve local jobs - buy domestic, local produce and support your local food producers. Start protecting natural resources like never before - water, fertile land, forests, seas, rivers and all other natural resources necessary for our life and survival!
If you are still required to be under quarantine - don't give up, keep your spirit strong despite the measures, and when conditions become right we will be awaiting you with numerous recuperative activities!
With tender loving care for Nature, explore the many natural beauties and wonders that adorn the magical mountain massif of Licka Pljesivica. One of its smaller but special parts, which is adorned with karst springs and pits with eternal snow, high altitude pastures, and beautiful lookout points is on the Bosnian side of our destination. This beautiful part of the mountain which was given to friendly Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1946 by the decision of the former Yugoslav government, today also offers a stay in a mountain home run by the Pljesevica 1954 Mountaineering Association from Bihac.
Bihac has a long-standing mountaineering tradition and local mountaineers and lovers of Mount Plješevica (a common name for Mount Lička Plješivica on the Bosnian side of our destination) will welcome you on weekends at the home with drinks, homemade stew and bread. Explore this majestic mountain on both sides of the border, it's worth the effort!
The marked trail leads from Bihac via mountain villages Zavalje and Međudrazje.
The basic information for this tour can be found on our interactive map under navigation "Experiences", category "Sports Activities" where you will find "Mountain climbs", from there select Mountain Home Plješivica for this ascent. If you prefer a guided tour, select your guide under the category "Guided mountaineering tours" or "Local Guides" and enjoy your hike!
Please, cherish nature, help us preserve valuable natural resources for future generations:
- help keep the air clean - hike or bike
- help keep the mountain/nature clean - leave no trace, take litter with you
- many wildflowers are rare and picking flowers now means no flowers in the future - don't pick rare wildflowers
- forests are home to 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity - be considerate, don't disturb wild animals.
