Limestone Peak of Gola Pljesivica - your new hiking experience

GWT2P regional tourist destination has many attractions, one being the abandoned military air base Zeljava. Deeply tucked into the "womb" of our natural gem, the Licka Pljesivica mountain range, the air base also had very important radar site placed on the Licka Pljesivica's northern summit, Gola Pljesivica at 1647.61 m.

From the Gola Pljesivica lookout point you can witness an excellent view that extends all the way to Italy and Hungary. The summit was once an important radar position of the former YU aviation with two radars placed in domes coated with a special material resistant to very harsh winters.

The radar site was connected with the underground part of the air base with the systems of tunnels, which are out of use at this point, and there were also as a meteo-radar, a heliport and a three story Alpine-type building built on the Gola Pljesivica Summit. Just before the end of the Homeland War, occupying forces in retreat had decided to destroy the entire base, the three story building is still up there, heavily damaged though, as well as the repaired altimeter that is now used for the Croatian air space control.

Reach one of the most beautiful lookout points in Croatia! Lower morning temperatures will make this southern ascent more comfortable. After a slightly steeper ascent you'll be rewarded with the most beautiful bird's-eye view from Lika's eagle's nest.

The trail is maintained by the MC "Mrsinj" from Korenica and leads from the center of Korenica to the summit. The MC members are excellent guides too, which we warmly recommend, with them you'll have a chance to learn more interesting facts!
