Lapodian Islets in ancient Racic

Extra Info & Inspiration
NOTICE: Let’s create a new, parallel reality together; this current one is packed with grey zones, quarantines, bans and prohibitions; let’s imagine what we could do to recover our spirit and body. Clean, healthy Nature and domestic food are our great allies so embrace them as soon as you can! Keep your spirit strong, and when all international travel requirements are fulfilled we will be awaiting you with numerous recuperative activities!

One of the oldest people who have inhabited Lika, Kordun and western Bosnia were the lapydes (Iapodes, or Japodes), a very interesting tribe in the ancient territory of Illyria.
Luckily, there are people who still cherish the memory of this ancient tribe and also pay attention to sustainability initiatives and responsible tourism in gentle natural areas.

We would therefore like to draw your attention to the Una Aqua Center in Racic, located on a unique site and in a very delicate ecosystem made of five islets. Definitely a spot worth visiting without tourist crowds. The Center is led by a great team with a good balance between youth and experience that pays attention to environmental, social, and economic sustainability, and also cherishes the memory of the ancient Illyrian tribe.

The lapydes were a well-organized tribe, equally exposed to continental and Mediterranean influences which are reflected in their distinctive artistic expression. Today’s Lika County was their main area, and the area by the River Una was known for their interesting stilt houses that were raised on wooden poles over, or near, Una. Three certainly verified prehistoric stilt house settlements on the river were located in: Ripac, Golubic and the Bukva waterfall between the villages of Lohovo and Racic. You can find out more about the history of the ancient lapydes in the Museum of the Una-Sana Canton in Bihac.

Nature has manifested great creative energy over here forming a heart symbol that can be fully seen from the sky. Your hosts, and the guardians of islets, call them - islets of love! Really beautiful invitation itself, so come to Racic and get your dose of love, nature sounds and colors! See you!
